Dr. Timothy D. Brewer
After an extensive search process, the Central search committee recommended that the congregation call Dr. Timothy D. Brewer as Cental's thirteenth pastor. Dr. Brewer's official pastorate began in October of 1993. Dr. Brewer was born in Colorado in 1958, the son of a Presbyterian minister. He graduated from Colorado State University in 1982 and pursued theological studies at Princenton Seminary, Fuller Seminary and Eastern Baptist Seminary. Following work as a youth pastor in California and a missionary in the Philippines and Kenya, he served churches in Michigan and California.
As he began his ministry at Central, Dr. Brewer expressed his vision for the church:
"Someone once described the real 'secret' of the Christian life as being the art of becoming that which we already are in Christ. In a nutshell, this is my vision for Central Presbyterian Church. As I have reflected upon what I would like to accomplsh as Senior Pastor of the flock at Central, I can think of no greater calling than to shepherd God's flock in such a way as to help it become all that Christ called it to be."
Tragically, we lost Dr. Brewer in July of 1995 after less that two years of inspired leadership. He left his wife Beth, also a brilliant teacher, and three young children in the hands of the Lord. Dr. Brewer preached a total of seventy sermons at Central. Their wisdom, conviction and inspiration are preserved here.
